The winter recruitment period is typically a time of intense rumour and possible big-money transfers. Several notable footballers are being linked with moves away from their current clubs. Here is a look at some of the key figures that might be on the move in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, which has left the forward available, reports suggest an important move is close. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a contract with a sizeable release clause active for a short period in early January. Recent reports point to Manchester City are now the frontrunners for his signature. Other suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have turned their attention to other targets, leaving teams such as Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

This England defender has continued to impress for Palace this season a summer transfer to Anfield collapsing. As his deal set to expire in the close season, this represents the London club's last chance to obtain a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of top clubs, including City and multiple European giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. The Portugal playmaker might be set for a return to the Premier League following a period in Saudi Arabia. This highly-touted Dutch midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. Following starring at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. The 19-year-old is widely expected to complete a major transfer this month.
